This booklet was designed to illustrate women’s reclamation of tattoos in relation to identity, heritage, and power, addressing society’s historically harsh views of women with tattoos. The red string woven throughout the design represents the evolving narrative that women are currently advocating for, shifting from initial negative perceptions to the growing acceptance seen today. The images featured in this booklet highlight the various ways women have used tattoos to empower themselves, from mastectomy tattoos to traditional indigenous designs that were previously forcibly banned.
